Comhairle nan Eilean Siar SNP Group welcomes the council’s support for the Scottish Government’s Croft House Grant proposals.
We have consistently advocated that the support available to Crofters must be sufficient to allow them to build a croft home within their means. We therefore warmly welcome the Scottish Government’s decision to consider reintroduction of the government loan scheme dismantled in 2005.
Group Leader, Donald Manford commented; I feel it’s appropriate to commend the council for its decision to turn away from the ill-considered act 10 years ago which deprived crofters of the loans available to them.
