Isles MP urges Loganair to restore public confidence

Angus-MacNeil-MP-Hebrides-TNa h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil has written to Loganair following reports of increased delays and cancellations with flights.

Mr MacNeil is also writing to Inglis Lyon, Managing Director of Highland and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL), to ask for a breakdown of delayed and cancelled flights to and from the Western Isles for the past three months.  This follows on from a previous request for information for the 6 month period from January to July 2015.

Commenting Angus MacNeil said:

“This is an ongoing problem, many people are affected by the increased frequency in flight delays and cancellations.

“Flight delays and cancellations create real problems for the travelling public whether their travel is for business or pleasure and is an additional stress for people who are travelling to the mainland for hospital appointments.

“I have asked Loganair to confirm what plans are in place to improve the reliability of the service.  I have also asked HIAL for a breakdown of delayed and cancelled flights for the period August to October 2015. I would like Loganair to be frank and tell us why this change of service has occurred, is it because they are a plane short?  In the end we need them to do well and want them to do well, but at moment there are huge frustrations.
