Highland Youth Parliament, the elected youth parliament of the Highlands, is holding its biannual conference between the 10th and 12th of June 2015 at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Skye.
The Conference, entitled ‘Here we SMO again’, will include consultations with The Highland Council Education Service and Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs.
There will also be presentations regarding Anti-Sectarianism and Rape and Sexual Abuse Awareness. Other sessions will provide updates on Young People’s Mental Health and Carbon Clever initiatives.
Members who attend the conference will report back to their constituents in their schools, youth forums and youth groups to share what has been discussed. They will also work on issues and actions needed in their local areas.
Shaun Finlayson, Highland Youth Convener said
“I’m looking forward to a great three days. We have a wide range of organisations attending and I think this demonstrates how seriously young people’s views are taken in Highland.”
