CROFTING REPRESENTATIVE’S CONTRIBUTION RECOGNISED

The Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) gives tribute to one of their own, Neil MacLeod from Stornoway, in being recognised “for services to crofting and the community in the Western Isles” in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

“Neil has boundless energy and enthusiasm for crofting”, said Fiona Mandeville, Chair of the SCF. “I know how much time and energy it takes to participate fully in SCF activity; Neil was our Lewis representative for many years and served as our Chair a few years ago. Since then he has remained active in the SCF as an advisor. He just doesn’t give up!”

Mr MacLeod was awarded the honour of ‘Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM)’ in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his “services to crofting and to the Western Isles community” in Lewis, his home.

Ms Mandeville added, “This follows closely on another SCF representative receiving recognition for his contribution to crofting. Alistair (John) Maciver of Rogart, also a previous leader of our organisation, was presented with an MBE by the Lady Lieutenant of Sutherland a few weeks ago. They are both fine examples of people who work selflessly for their communities.”
