ALLAN WELCOMES NEW BARRA PLANES

Alasdair-Allan-Hebrides-TodNa h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, has welcomed the arrival in Scotland of the two new Twin Otter planes which will be used on the Barra, Cambeltown and Tiree air routes.

 

The 19 seat planes will enter into service later this summer following their certification.

 

Alasdair Allan commented:

 

“I am delighted that these planes have finally arrived in Scotland and I know they will be very welcome by the people of Barra as they will ensure the future security of the island’s vital air service.

 

“These planes ensure that the community of Barra retains easy access to Glasgow airport, which will help to guarantee that this fragile island community has an economic future. These flights are vital not only for tourism, but as a lifeline link for people using hospital and other services.

 

“This is a great moment for Barra and the whole community deserve to be congratulated for pressing the case for this multi-million pound Investment in the island’s future.”
