NHS Western Isles was recently made aware that some local people have been contacted by telephone by an individual claiming to be from their local health centre/GP Practice, trying to sell them medication and requesting bank account details.
The NHS is keen to stress to patients that these telephone calls are not being made by healthcare professionals, and that patients should never provide their bank details, when requested, over the telephone. NHS staff will never ask for your bank details.
If any patients are concerned, they should contact Trading Standards on 01851 822 694. Patients are advised not to provide any personal details and not to set up appointments if they receive contact from anyone trying to sell medication.
