Comhairle Welcomes Roll Out of RET (Road Equivelant Traffic)

council-Hebrides-TodayComhairle nan Eilean Siar has welcomed the announcement made by Minister for Transport and Islands, Derek Mackay, yesterday, that Road Equivalent Tariff is be rolled out on inter-island ferry services.

 

Cllr John Mackay, Chair of Transport and Infrastructure at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said, “The Comhairle fully supports RET and we believe that it has brought significant economic and social benefit to the Outer Hebrides community over the years. The Comhairle has long campaigned for the roll out of the scheme to the other island routes and we are delighted by the new proposals from Scottish Government in regard to the roll out of scheme on the Sounds of Barra and Harris routes.”
