We can help get you ‘Up and Running’

Drop in to our Free One Day One Stop Shop and find out how Health Works in the Western Isles

The Western Isles Health and Work Partnership will be hosting a one-off free event on Thursday, September 26, at the Town Hall, Stornoway.

The event is intended for anyone who is looking for work, anyone wishing to return to work after an absence, anyone thinking of starting their own business and small to medium businesses who might be looking for advice about how to support their employees. Donna Burnett, of Working Health Services Scotland, will be on hand to provide information about the free occupational health services it provides to small-medium businesses.

The event, open from 1pm until 7pm, will have an informal ‘careers convention’ style, with a wide range of information stands provided by health, the council, community, business and advice agencies.  Tea, coffee and cakes will be available at the event, which has been sponsored by the National Health Works Development Fund.  Everyone is welcome to drop in, have a cup of tea, and find out more about how health works.

The event will be opened by Mr Gordon Jamieson, Chief Executive of NHS Western Isles, and Judy Gibson, the Government’s Health and Work Adviser, will also attend.

Judy said: “We are delighted to sponsor this innovative event, a tremendous amount of work has been done over the past year in the Western Isles to draw all the partners together and map the services they provide so that anyone experiencing health problems at work, or looking to return to work after an absence, will know where to turn for help, advice and ongoing support.”
