McGrigor encourages constituents to nominate rural businesses for “Rural Oscar”.

Jamie McGrigor, Highlands & Islands Conservative MSP, has today urged constituents across his region to nominate their favourite rural business in the 2013 Countryside Alliance awards which have become known as the annual Rural Oscars. Local residents are invited to nominate rural businesses in the awards which have four categories: local Food; Village Shop/ Post Office; Butcher; and start-up. Scottish winners go forward for consideration for the UK wide finals.
Commenting today Jamie, who is the Scottish Conservative Environment Spokesman, said:
“ The Highlands & Islands has some world-class rural enterprises producing very fine foods and serving their local communities. Highlands & Islands businesses have featured strongly among the Scottish winners and runners up in the last few years and I hope they will do so again in 2013.
“ I would encourage constituents to nominate their favourite producers, local shops or butchers before the 1st of November deadline.
“ These awards are a fantastic way of showcasing some of the excellence we have and promoting new business start-ups.”
