Police in Benbecula appeal for witnesses following two thefts from vehicles

Northern Constabulary is appealing for information, following two thefts on the Isle of Benbecula last weekend, which may be linked.

Between 11:00 hours on Saturday 22 September and 10:00 hours on Sunday 23 September 2012, a spare wheel was removed from the boot of a Volkswagen Golf car, parked outside the owner’s house in Liniclate, Benbecula. The spare wheel was a full-size 15” steel wheel.

In another incident, between 15:30 hours on Friday 21 September and 20:30 hours on Sunday 23 September 2012, all four wheel trims were stolen from a Volkswagen Golf car parked in the long-term car park at Benbecula Airport. The silver coloured ‘VW’ branded wheel trims taken are compatible with steel 15” wheels.

PC Adrian Kay of Benbecula Police Station said: “These two thefts occurred over the same weekend and the items stolen relate to the same make and model of car and also the same wheel size. We ask anyone who may have information about these incidents, or who are aware of anybody selling these items, to come forward.”

Police are keen to speak to any occupants of a dark coloured hatchback car, seen driving into the airport car park around 12:40 hours of Sunday 23 September who may have information regarding the incidents.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Benbecula Police Station on 01870 602374. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org, where no personal details are taken, information is not traced and you will not go to court.
