Western Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan, took part in this year’s Clan MacNeil Gathering on the Isle of Barra, where he unveiled a new addition to Kisimul Castle, a brazier which now burns on top of the castle.
Alasdair Allan commented:
“As ever this year’s MacNeil Gathering was a great success bringing together MacNeil’s, and others, from around the world and emphasising the strong links which exist between the community of Barra itself, the Clan Chief, and MacNeil’s internationally.
“The event was also a chance for Historic Scotland to set out some of their plans to ensure that Kisimul Castle is maintained into the future and Jamie MacPherson from Historic Scotland talked about the history and structure of the castle.
“I was delighted to get the honour – as a non-MacNeil – to unveil a new addition to this historic building, a brazier which burns from the top of the castle and which I look forward to seeing again on other occasions.”
