Following the announcement earlier this month by the Transport Minister, Keith Brown that a new £42m ferry will be ordered for the Stornoway-Ullapool route, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL), will be holding an event at Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar’s offices, Sandwick Road, Stornoway, on Thursday 12th July at 7pm for the communities of Lewis and Harris to hear more about the plans for the new ferry.
CMAL, the Scottish Government’s Ferries Division and CalMac will be attending the meeting in partnership with Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar. The meeting will discuss the proposed design; changes to the port infrastructure and the timetable for the ship build. This will be an opportunity for those attending the meeting to raise any questions regarding the new ferry.
Guy Platten, Chief Executive of CMAL commented: “Team members will be on hand to provide information on our plans for the replacement vessel and update residents on the process going forward.
“The Stornoway/Ullapool route is a vital service for the residents of the Isle of Lewis and we hope that they will take this opportunity to hear about our plans, as well as provide us with feedback and suggestions on the next stage of the build process.”
