Parent and child health groups move to new premises as they continue to thrive

Two local groups aimed at parents with young children are moving to new premises in April, as they grow in success and popularity.

Bosom Buddies breastfeeding support group, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, is moving from the Grianan Centre, to the new Adventure Island Soft Play in Inaclete Road, Stornoway. M’ulaidh, a drop in service for parents with young children, is also moving to from the Bridge Centre to Adventure Island Soft Play.

The growing popularity of Bosom Buddies, with increasing numbers of mums attending and benefiting from the support on offer, has meant that the group has outgrown its current premises.

Bosom Buddies encourages mothers to continue breastfeeding in an environment where they can share experiences with other mothers and ask questions or raise concerns with midwives and health visiting staff.  Research shows that the benefits of breastfeeding start right from day one, and NHSWestern Isles is committed to promoting breastfeeding as the healthiest way for a woman to feed her baby.

Bosom Buddies takes place every Wednesday from 10am until 12noon, and will relocate to the new premises from Wednesday April 11.

M’ulaidh, launched in October 2010, has also proved extremely popular, with a growing number of people attending to take advantage of the advice and support on offer. M’ulaidh continues to thrive, and there will be a new line up of visiting health professionals and agencies who will attend the group over the coming months to give advice to parents at the new location. M’ulaidh takes place every Tuesday from 1pm-3pm, and all parents and carers with children aged up to the age of five are welcome. The group will move to the new premises from Tuesday April 3.
