Oil covered seabirds have been found washed ashore in the Western Isles.
Twelve guillemots have been recovered since 27 December on Lewis, Benbecula, Harris and Eriskay. Seven of the birds were alive and were cleaned and cared for by animal welfare volunteers in the local area.
The source of the oil is not known at this time although the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) has been monitoring the finds.
RSPB Scotland has asked for members of the public to alert it to any further sightings of seabirds in distress.
Members of the public can call the SSPCA on 03000 999 999 or the local RSPB in Stornoway on 01851 703296.
