A ‘Walking Aid MOT’ is set to be held by physiotherapists in Western Isles Hospital at the end of the month, when people can ‘drop in’ and have their walking aids assessed.
NHS Western Isles Rehabilitation Physiotherapist Allison Martin explained: “The aim is for people to bring in their walking aids and have them assessed for suitability and safety, possibly even just to have the rubber stoppers replaced if needed. If anyone has concerns about their own or a relative’s walking aid, they can bring it in and have it checked.”
The session will be held in the Day Hospital of Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway, on August 30 between 2pm and 4pm, and everyone currently using walking aids is invited to attend.
