Sgoiltean Ùra and FMP, the main contractor responsible for the construction of the Western Isles Schools Project, are aware of the recent press surrounding householders receiving unsolicited approaches from tarmac gangs.
It would appear that these gangs have indicated that they are working for FMP in the delivery of the new schools, and it is for this reason that they are able to offer such competitive prices. Contrary to these assertions however, both Sgoiltean Ùra and FMP have no knowledge of these organisations.
Warren Wright, Operations Manager for FMP stated “We can confirm that all our bitmac and asphalt surfacing works are being undertaken by Bardon Hebrides. Any other persons or companies making representations that they are undertaking black top surfacing works on behalf of FMP on the schools project are false.”
