The Scottish Minister for Local Government and Planning, Aileen Campbell, is today visiting the Western Isles. Ms Campbell has this morning met with council members and staff and has attended a meeting with Community Planning partners at the Comhairle. During her visit, Ms Campbell will be shown around the new Sgoil an Rubha in Bayble and will also be visiting Lews Castle and the new Creative Industry and Media Centre on Seaforth Road.
Angus Campbell, Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Aileen Campbell to the Western Isles and to show her some of the exciting projects that we are currently working on. It’s important that ministers are able to see at first hand the work that we do here in the Western Isles and I hope that during Aileen’s visit we can establish a strong and productive dialogue.”
Local Government Minister Aileen Campbell said:
“I am pleased to be in the Western Isles today to see some tremendous projects and to have an introductory meeting with the Council. We discussed our shared objectives of delivering the best, most effective public services in a constrained financial environment and we will continue that engagement in the coming months and years.”
