Breastfeeding support Group set up in Balivanich

Due to considerable interest from breast feeding mothers in Uist and Benbecula, Uist Infant Support Team has set up a local service to provide advice, guidance and support.

Through the new Balivanich Clinic Informal Breastfeeding Support group (aka ‘BIBS’), it is hoped that the numbers of mothers choosing and sustaining breastfeeding will continue to rise.

Local Midwife, Emma MacKechnie, said: “BIBS is open to all breastfeeding mothers as a source of support, encouragement and discussion with one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Refreshments will be provided and babies and toddlers are also welcome. A midwife and or health visitor will be available for help and advice as required.”

The group will have its first gathering on Wednesday 24th August from 11am until 12noon at Balivanich Clinic.
