There was another blow to the Western Isles economy when it was announced last night (Wednesday) that Highland Alternative Energy Ltd (HAEL) with a branch in Stornoway have decided to close their island base and lay off 12 people.
A small operation has been set up to cover the remaining work and HAEL owner Jimmy Ferguson said this would look after customers in the Western Isles.
In the Western Isles, they are involved in work for Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) and the Comhairle but this work will end in eight weeks time.
