MSP delighted Lochboisdale-Mallaig ferry campaign paid off

Rhoda-Grant-MSP-Hebrides-ToHighlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, has said she is delighted that the campaign to secure a permanent Lochboisdale – Mallaig ferry service has paid off.

Commenting after the Scottish Government announced that the route will be among a range of improvements to west coast ferries from next summer, Rhoda Grant said “This just shows how a hard-fought grassroots campaign can have the power to change a government’s stance.  The South Uist community, together with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, have been tireless in their efforts to get a permanent service on this route.  Scottish Labour has supported the campaign from day one and is delighted that it has finally paid off.  This will make sure people in South Uist have access to the lifeline ferry services which island communities need to be assured of.  I am delighted our voices have been heard.”
