Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K – Saturday Oct 3rd

heb logoPeople from Canada, the US, Australia, Liberia, Sweden, China, Bangladeh, Rwanda, Germany and across the UK are already signed up to take part in the annual Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K.

The event, organized by Uig residents Kirtsy and Tony Wade, takes place on Saturday, October 3rd, on the Valtos Peninsula; and all funds raised will go towards providing young Afghan women with scholarships to study medicine in Afghanistan.

The 10K start line will be set at the Cnip end of Reef Beach and runners, walkers of all ages, and dogs – on a lead please to prevent accidents – are welcome to join for the 12noon start.

As last year, there will be soup and home baking at the old fire station at Miavaig for all who take part.

Why not make a weekend of it be bringing your tent and staying at the Reef Beach campsite?

And if you can’t join in Uig on the day, but would like to give your support, as with those already signed up across the globe, do consider running or walking wherever you live or happen to be.

Registration for the Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K is open on the day or, preferably, online at  www.lindanorgrovefoundation.org/Online_shop

Entry forms are also available from Ionad Spors Leodhais (Lewis Sports Centre) in Stornoway. Please post, with your fee, to The Linda Norgrove Foundation, Mangersta, Uig, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9EY.

Entry is £10 and event t-shirts, £12 on the day; or plus £3 if posted.

And keep an eye out for updates on ‘The Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K’ Facebook page.
