NA H-EILEANAN AN IAR PARLIAMENTARIANS WELCOME DENNIS CANAVAN TO ISLANDS

Dennis Canavan the popular chairman of YES Scotland will in Stornoway on Thursday 7th March 2013 to address a public meeting in the Cabarfeidh Hotel.  Dennis Canavan, a former Labour MP will be explaining why he wants a fairer and independent Scotland.

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus B MacNeil said:

“I am delighted that Dennis has accepted the invitation to come to the islands to speak about independence. Dennis is a former Labour MP and demonstrates that independence is not for any one party and further reminds us that after independence, like any normal democracy, many and different parties will be in power over time.  Some people imagine it will just be the SNP and while I might be “with a smile” quite happy with that, that is not the way democracies work but the people choose the government through the ballot box.

“Dennis, will be electrifying and I would encourage people, regardless of party or even viewpoint on independence to come along and listen and even take a different point of view.”

“This event will be held on Thursday 7th March at 7.30pm in the Cabarfeidh Hotel (Oak Room) and I extend a warm invitation to everyone to come and listen to Dennis Canavan.”

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP Alasdair Allan also commented:
“It is great that Dennis is coming to speak in the islands for the Yes campaign locally.  Dennis is someone respected across political boundaries.  His involvement in the Yes campaign, as a former Labour MSP, emphasises that the referendum is not a vote for or against any political party, but a vote to give Scotland a say in her own future. Dennis Canavan is of course far from alone among traditional Labour supporters in seeing the need for Scotland to have real power if our people are going to be protected from the policies of UK Governments in the future.
”I know that Dennis will be a powerful advocate for independence when he speaks in Stornoway, and that he will receive a warm welcome.”
