The Comhairle will be submitting those Lewis and Harris council tax accounts which are in arrears to Stornoway Sheriff Court.
Tax payers who are in arrears are urged to contact the Comhairle by e-mail or phone to make a payment or discuss arrangements to pay the amount owed. Failure to contact the Comhairle will result in a surcharge of 10% of the outstanding balance being added to the amount owed.
The Comhairle would like to highlight that it is their policy not to take action against those in arrears who have made contact and an arrangement to repay monies owed and would emphasise the need to get in touch as soon as difficulties in making payments arise.
