Stornoway was treated to heart-in-the-mouth aerial display this afternoon by the Red Arrows.
Thousands of residents and visitors crowded the viewing area at the town’s ferry terminal as the Royal Airforce’s precision flying team performed a series of amazing acrobatics over the harbour.
Intricate manoeuvres such as the Detonator, the Vortex and the Twister drew gasps of admiration from the crowd. The team also paid tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Britain with their Spitfire shape.
The display was the latest event to mark the 150th anniversary of Stornoway as a port.
