The Moderator of the 2012 General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland, Reverend Dr Iain D Campbell, is to cycle from Barra to the Butt of Lewis in aid of Macmillan Nurses.
Dr Campbell is a keen cyclist and will be accompanied by his son Stephen as they pedal their way on the 170-mile road trip.
The Point minister said that he wanted to join the sponsored cycle for several reasons, not least of which was his belief that the Church needs to be seen to be out in the community and involved with community projects.
He added: “I always knew that the Macmillan Nurses did an excellent job in dealing with families facing crisis situations, but discovered just how good a job they do when we required their services last year.
“As we nursed my mother-in-law in the final stages of her terminal illness, the help of Macmillan Nurses was invaluable. This is just a way of saying ‘thank you’.”
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Campbell duo can get in touch with them on [email protected]. The cycle takes place from 12th-14th June 2012.
