Stornoway RNLI lifeboat aid stricken fishing vessel

Stornoway RNLI lifeboat and volunteer crew launched yesterday, Monday October 5^th, to the aid of a stricken fishing vessel.

The ‘Tom Sanderson’ all-weather lifeboat launched at 1400hours following a call from the local fishing boat reporting a loss of steering.

The 33ft vessel was situated two nautical miles north of Tiumpan Head, Point.

Weather conditions at the scene were moderate, with a brisk ESE wind and on arrival the RNLI crew secured a tow line between the two boats.

The RNLI lifeboat the towed the casualty back to the safety of Stornoway Harbour.
