Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, is encouraging constituents who think they may be eligible for the Energy Assistance Package, to apply for a new round of installation of central heating systems.
Alasdair Allan commented:
“There is no doubt that the Western Isles suffers from fuel poverty, with households across Scotland facing increasing pressures due to energy costs increasing to levels over the past few years that have never been seen before.
“There are, however, schemes available to help people who need assistance to heat their homes.
“I have been corresponding with Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment, Alex Neil recently regarding the delivery of the Energy Assistance Package in the Western Isles. Mr Neil has made me aware of a recent decline in the number of referrals to Scottish Gas for the Stage 4 Energy Assistance Package in the last few months and has acknowledged a need for publicity.
“I am aware that a direct mailing campaign has taken place in the Western Isles within the last few weeks and I would encourage anyone who would like information or advice regarding their own eligibility for assistance with their household energy bills to contact the Home Energy Scotland Hotline on 0800 512 012.”
“This helpline can provide advice and assessment for a wide range of schemes.”
