The Trust was formed in 2005 to own the community’s interests in the Muaitheabhal Wind Farm.
The Trustees of the Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust ‘MCWFT’ (Donald Mackay, Iain M Maciver and Angus McDowall) are pleased to announce that the first funds to be derived from the wind farm – some £800,000 – are now with the Trust. Further funds, currently anticipated in an amount of approximately £35 million, are expected to be derived from the wind farm over the next 28 years. At this level of funding, MCWF could be the largest community wind farm trust in Scotland.
In keeping with the terms of the Trust Deed a full complement of Trustees must be in office before funds can be distributed. To this end, the existing Trustees propose to hold elections by the first week of September 2012 to elect a maximum of 7 additional Trustees. A notice calling the appropriate meeting will be sent to the membership shortly.
Anyone resident in the Trust area (Kinloch and Pairc and the villages adjacent to Loch Seaforth) who is not already a member may apply for free membership of the MCWFT. Members will be entitled to stand for election as trustees and will have a vote in the forthcoming election. The existing Trustees encourage all residents to participate.
Anyone interested in becoming a member can collect a membership application form at Ravenspoint or Balallan Post Office.
