Drivers and their passengers should beware of possible traffic disruption in the early morning before and during the Olympic Torch Relay in Stornoway on June 11th.
The police will be operating a rolling roadblock starting at the Comhairle Offices on Sandwick Road, through Stornoway Town Centre, on to the Manor Roundabout and Matheson Road and ending up at the Smith Avenue Athletics Track. This will result in possible disruptions to traffic and delays between the hours of6amand9am. Every effort will be made to minimise any disruption.
Drivers, particularly those going for the ferry or to catch a flight, should leave early to ensure they are on time. Ferry foot passengers are also advised that they should aim to arrive early if they are getting a lift and will be travelling through Stornoway.
Car parking arrangements for those wishing to attend the morning event are being secured at the Co-Op car park and Comhairle car parks.
Public transport is unlikely to be significantly affected.
