Western Isles MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has welcomed the announcement from Alex Neil MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment that fifteen projects in the Highlands and Islands will receive a share of funding worth £5.3 million to boost economic growth and create jobs.
Mr MacNeil said:
“I welcome this funding announcement and I am delighted to see that in the Outer Hebrides, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Young Musicians Hebrides and Uist Wool have received funding.
“The funding to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will assist the Harris Tweed Training Development Project which includes training for new weavers.
“With Young Musicians Hebrides and Uist Wool also receiving funding, these wide variety of bodies will hopefully benefit from this financial boost from the Scottish Government.”
