Barra’s cafe Kisimul in final of Newby Teas Tiffin cup

Cafe Kisimul which is located at Castlebay in Barra has been chosen to represent Scotland, as one of the 10 national finalists in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition. The Grand Final of the Newby Teas Tiffin Cup 2010 is to be held in the House of Commons on Tuesday 9 November 2010. The competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

The Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by local MP’s. This year a record 74 restaurants were nominated by their MP’s.

Commenting SNP MP for Na-h-Eileanan an Iar Angus MacNeil said:

“I am delighted that Cafe Kisimul has made it into the final of the Newby Teas Tiffin Cup 2010. This is such a prestigious award and I will certainly be there on the 9th November to cheer on Cafe Kisimul, and I am sure everyone in Na h-Eileanan an Iar will be rooting for our local restaurant to be crowned the 2010 champion.

“This indeed would be an excellent reward for the hard working staff of Cafe Kisimul.”
