The highly prized gastronomic speciality guga (baby gannet) recently appeared on an Aberdeen restaurant menu.
The first time the dish has appeared on a restaurant menu, however this ‘new dish’ could be short lived as the restaurant has been threatened with prosecution for serving the bird.
It has not been specified where the bird has been sourced from – it is forbidden for guga to be sold on for commercial purposes such as this outside of the Western Isles.
The restauranteur who sparked the controversy has been contacted by police and told he was potentially breaking the law by putting the seabird on his menu.
