A new area developed specifically for the administration of chemotherapy was recently opened in Western Isles Hospital.
The area has been developed within Specials Ward, and will mean a larger and more comfortable space for patients than the previous room used for chemotherapy, in Surgical Ward. The new room will also more effectively meet capacity and the needs of patients.
“Treat more patients”
The new room, which was previously a side room and day room in Specials Ward, opened last month.
Interim Nurse Director/Chief Operating Officer Nigel Hobson stated: “This development is part of the current refurbishment programme within the hospital and demonstrates good progress.
“The new chemotherapy area is an excellent example of a patient focused development which will benefit service users and enable us to treat more patients at the same time.”
