Strong winds couldn’t blow out the enthusiasm of the crowd at Uig Gala Day at a windswept Reef beach on the West Side of Lewis yesterday (Saturday).
The weather held fair for the afternoon as hundreds of young families, kids and grandparents gathered to enjoy the various stalls, information booths and activities.
“Speedboat”
Everything from mini cruises to beat the goalie and ‘sumo’ wrestling was available to attract old and young alike.
This year health was centre stage at the show from the kick boxing demonstration, to advice on healthy portion sizes, creating your own fruit smoothie drink via pedal power or filling up on barbecue fish – instead of greasy burgers.
One gala visitor, six year old Angus Macleod from Point summed up his excitement of the whole day: “I am going on the bouncy castle, play football and going on the speedboat!”
