Sgoiltean Ùra is pleased to announce the appointment of UBC Group Limited to undertake the first phase enabling works contract at Sir E Scott School in Tarbert.
These works will see the former listed primary school buildings brought back into active use as temporary teaching accommodation during the construction of the new school on the adjoining site.
” Local construction”
In addition, Alex Murray (Construction) Limited has been appointed to undertake a programme of refurbishment and repairs works to the windows of the category ‘B’ listed Matheson Hall building at the Nicolson Institute following the successful acquisition of a £15,000 grant from the Stornoway Townscape Heritage Initiative.
The appointment of both these contractors for works totalling in excess of £400,000 follows closely on the recent appointment of preferred bidders for the main school contract and underlines the commitment by both Sgoiltean Ùra and the Comhairle to provide opportunities for local construction companies in the delivery of the Western Isles Schools Project.
