“Stornoway Media Village”
Following a competitive tendering process, Stornoway-based building contractor John Murray and Co. has been awarded the contract for the development of the new Creative Industries and Media Centre on Seaforth Road, Stornoway.
The redevelopment will create office and workspace for businesses and individuals working within the creative industries, particularly supporting growth and collaboration among small media-related businesses throughout the area, and marks an important development in the Stornoway ‘Media Village’.
The construction works include structural repairs, replacement of roof coverings, building fabric repairs, fitting out, new extensions to the existing building, external landscaping and car parking. The target for the building to be occupied is from early 2011.

Cllr Angus Campbell, Leader of the Council, commented, “I am delighted that the project has reached this key milestone. This news represents a boost for the local construction industry and its suppliers. The centre, once completed, will provide facilities to support locally based media activity, which is a key area of growth at the current time.”
The project has received funding from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
