“Problems for consumers”
Western Isles Trading Standards officers are issuing a warning regarding itinerant traders in the Western Isles.
With Spring approaching, unlicensed traders may take advantage of the more seasonal weather to sell door to door.
They may be selling items such as power tools, kitchen items including pots and pans or they may even offer to tarmac your drive.
Whilst some traders are reputable, many have caused problems for consumers in the past.
Consumers are urged to think carefully before buying goods or services from such traders.
Can you buy the goods cheaper elsewhere? Do you really want them? Can you get redress if the goods are faulty, are you certain the goods are safe?
If you feel you are being pressurised by such tradespersons contact Trading Standards on 01851 709577 or the police 702222.
