Since Calmac launched its Sunday ferry service from Stornoway to Ullapool last July more than 10,000 passengers have used the vital transport connection.
More than 3,000 cars have also been carried on the Sunday ferry, as customers voted with their feet over the controversial introduction of Sabbath ferries.
CalMac described the service as “popular” and the extra sailing at the weekend has prompted the organisers of the Hebridean Celtic Festival – the Western Isles’ largest music festival – to change their main event in 2010 from a Friday to Saturday night.
