Northern Constabulary welcomes HMICS Thematic Inspection report on attendance management.
Director of Human Resource, Andrea Sillars, said: “Northern Constabulary is shown to have lower than average rates of absence for both police officers and police staff, with a continuing downward trend. The Force has excellent policies in place to support those who are sick and is continuing its work with Investors in People (IIP) to increase staff feeling valued and motivated at work. We are proactive in our approach and in support of this have achieved the Scotlands’s healthy Working Lives Gold award in Police HQ.
“We note that the report recognises the tendency to have lower rates of sickness absence in smaller organisations. Northern Constabulary is a small Force which has very loyal officers and staff, where people work closely together in small teams and recognise the disruption to their colleagues through absenteeism.”
