Almost all council tax bills in the 2010 billing period in Scotland have been frozen, however in the Western Isles, Shetland and Angus taxpayers are still waiting to see if their bills will also be held on ‘ice’ at the current levels.
Twenty nine local authorities throughout Scotland have now confirmed the move and it is expected the three remaining councils will decided the issue next week.
The decision to hold council tax rates at the same level over recent years is in keeping with Local Authorities agreement with government on the issue.
The SNP would like to scrap council tax altogether but their plans to replace it with a local income tax were abandoned at Holyrood because of a lack of support from other parties.
