Western Isles MP Angus MacNeil has written to the Crofting Minister Roseanna Cunningham, after her comments at the Crofting Conference in Stornoway today regarding the Bull Hire Scheme.
An interim scheme has been running since 2004, Mr MacNeil is urging the Government to make a quick decision on the future of the scheme.
Commenting Mr MacNeil said:
“After Roseanna Cunningham’s comments today at the Crofting Conference in Stornoway, I have now written to her asking that the right decision is made about the future of the Bull Hire Scheme.
“It is important that a decision will be made shortly and that we will see the continuation of the Bull Hire Scheme in a manner that will be beneficial and acceptable to the crofting community.
“I have had much correspondence on this issue from concerned crofters, and after speaking to crofters in Harris last night and Stornoway today, it is important that an imminent decision is made.
