Community engagment in Barra

People in Barra will have the opportunity this Thursday to discuss how community aims and objectives can be achieved

A Community Engagement Event will be held in Castlebay Community School from 6pm to 7.30pm.

The event is being organised by the multi-agency Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership (OHCPP) which is meeting in Castlebay on the same evening.

The OHCPP is responsible for drawing up and delivering the Single Outcome Agreement (SOA) that forms the agreement between local agencies and the Scottish Government. Within the SOA there are 7 local outcomes that tie into the Scottiish Government’s 15 National Outcomes. Local outcomes reflect a vision for the Outer Hebrides. They include improving population balances, improving the economy, ensuring people are well educated, improving health and wellbeing, strengthening local communities, making use of natural and cultural resources and continuously improving services.

Chair of the OHCPP, Angus Campbell said: “The OHCPP holds meetings throughout the Islands and I am delighted that we are in Barra this week. I would urge all individuals who have an interest in how their community develops to come along to Thursday’s meeting. It is an opportunity to shape the means by which the Comhairle, the Health Board, the Enterprise Company and other agencies deliver for communities in the Outer Hebrides.”
