Storms battering the Scottish coast and islands delayed the airlift of an injured teenage fisherman.
The 19-year-old youth broke his ankle while working on the Inverness-registered MFV Adventurer II trawler which was fishing west of St Kilda.
The Stornoway Coastguard rescue helicopter was alerted to his plight last night however weather conditions meant it was too dangerous to winch the casualty off the vessel.
The fishing boat steamed towards Lewis while the aircraft returned to base and a second attempt was made at 10am today (Wednesday) off the Butt of Lewis.
The casualty was taken to the Western Isles Hospital for treatment.
